Environmental Security Course
Sources of Conflict and Prospects for Peacemaking

The Foundation for Environmental Security and Sustainability, UNEP and the University for Peace are organising a course on Environmental Security on 1 October 2009 in Geneva.
Presentations will be divided in three parts. The first one will discuss the concept of environmental security as an international and interdisciplinary field of study and policymaking and will conclude having a look at emerging challenges.
The second part will discuss the ENVSEC Programme which provides multistakeholder-based analysis of environmental and security risks in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia.
The third part will focus on conflict and competition over water resources and local development in Costa Rica's Pacific Region.
