Programme || Background Reading || Participants
The objective of the conference was to bring together officials in international organisations and the participating ENVSEC countries as well as other governmental and non-governmental environment, development and security experts to identify key environment and security challenges and needed actions in the regions of Central Asia, South Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus, and Eastern Europe.
By organising the conference in Brussels we wanted to introduce ENVSEC and its work to a wider audience, including officials of relevant EU institutions and Permanent Representations, especially to explore avenues for increased cooperation with ENVSEC.
The conference was organised jointly by the ENVSEC partners who include OSCE, UNEP, UNDP, UNECE, and the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) as well as NATO as the associated member. The meeting was facilitated in association with the Institute for Environmental Security (IES) and the Global Legislators Organisation for a Balanced Environment (GLOBE-EU).
