Eco-Insurance for a Sustainable Future
Investing in People - Ecosytems - Sustainablilty
Eco-Insurance is a proposed home-insurance plan for our planet.
This new and innovative financial mechanism seeks to levy a modest eco-insurance premium from people and organisations for investment in the restoration and maintenance of the globe's life-supporting ecosystems in order to promote global environmental, economic and human security.
Two key documents have been published in this initiative. In September 2003, a consultation paper called "Eco-Insurance for a Sustainable Future: A Contribution to the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation" appeared.
In October 2004, we released "Eco-Insurance: Risk Management for the 21st Century" by J.S. Lovink, M. Wackernagel and S.H. Goldfinger.
